A piano virtuoso who turns every performance into a one-of-a-kind experience.
BIOGRAPHY
Named Radio-Canada’s 2015–2016 Breakthrough Artist (“Révélation”) in the jazz category, pianist Guillaume Martineau stands out for his versatility and creativity. He graduated summa cum laude in 2012 with a degree in jazz from the Berklee College of Music, receiving the College’s North American Scholarship and Zambelli Award. His classical background is equally impressive: Bachelor of Music degree from the Université de Montréal, Master of Music from McGill University, and several first prizes in competitions including the Canadian Music Competition in 2009. Such versatility is amply reflected in his musical activities. Martineau has performed as a guest soloist with six different symphony orchestras, recorded the piano soundtrack for the films Louis Cyr and My Salinger Year, hosted a fully improvised music program on CIBL Radio-Montréal for twelve years, and has also
given marathon performances lasting up to 12 hours without interruption. His engagements have taken him across Canada, the United States, Mexico, France, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Japan, South Korea, and China. Guillaume Martineau owes his musical awareness and open-mindedness to his teachers, both jazz and classical: Menahem Pressler, Anton Kuerti, Richard Raymond, Gilles Manny, JoAnn Brackeen, and Oliver Jones, among others.

PROJECT
Creations
Guillaume Martineau presents a unique concert experience, inspired by the audience’s creative input, the surrounding atmosphere, the hall and the piano. Accompanied by a sound engineer, each performance is recorded and instantly becomes an album, with track titles suggested by the audience.
At ease exploring a wide range of styles, Guillaume Martineau takes us on a journey through a wide range of atmospheres and emotions. With music created entirely in the moment, both the audience and the pianist share the thrill of taking part in a bold and ephemeral adventure.
After the concert, each spectator receives a link to revisit the recording of these unique moments, extending the experience far beyond the performance itself.
Creations is the present moment transformed into music.
